As a proud American and politically involved 16-year-old Democrat, it saddens me to know that democracy, "a government by the people," no longer exists in my country.

Not only was this proven in 2000 when George Bush was elected president, but also on May 31, when the Democratic National Committee denied the votes of over 2 million Americans, once again giving victory to a candidate who did not get the most votes.

If select people are going to determine the President, why must we misuse millions of hard earned tax dollars conducting elections that simply do not count. I may be young, but it's easy for me to understand that democracy does not fully exist and my vote does not count in this country.

I am ashamed of the DNC for denying Hillary Clinton so many votes. No wonder more Americans vote on American Idol than in political elections; at least on Idol our votes count! This delegate game has got to go.
